The choir Karitas invites you to a thoughtful and present concert on All Saints' Day, celebrating time, memory and human connection through music. As October turns to November and nature settles into winter rest, audiences gather for a musical portrait of remembrance and care.
The program moves through works from different eras and styles. It opens with Ola Gjellos Days of Beauty, where Emily Brontë's text looks back. Amy Beach's Nunc Dimitis presents Simeon's thanksgiving prayer – a peaceful resolution after a long life. Gjellos Ubi Caritas explores care and humanity, values central to the choir's artistic foundation.
Martha Bach Gislinges new work Afturábak (Icelandic: "backwards") draws on phonetic fragments from Nordic languages and explores how voices can dissolve into near-unison. The music floats between unity and individual flow – voices seek each other without fully meeting.
The concert's second half compares musical currents of history: Franz Biebl's late-modern Ave Maria meets Amy Beach's late-Romantic idiom. Sara Amalie Heise has arranged a German folk tune, and the concert closes with Fanny Mendelssohn's evening song and Kathrine Muff Enevoldsen's Danish modern classic Fortabt er jeg stadig, with text by Stine Pilgaard.
