The Lyngby-Taarbæk Symphony Orchestra opens season 2026-07 with an ambitious programme spanning the Eastern European musical landscape. The concert features works by three composers whose music was deeply rooted in their homelands' folk musical heritage: Russian Tchaikovsky (1840-1893), Hungarian Béla Bartók (1881-1945), and Czech Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904).
The programme includes Tchaikovsky's vibrant Capriccio Italien, Bartók's intensely poetic Violin Concerto No. 1, and Dvořák's expansive Symphony No. 8 — a triptych showing how folk musical elements were skillfully woven into symphonic form.
Conductor: Carl-Oscar Østerlind, one of Denmark's most distinguished cellists, leads with his dual expertise as performer and orchestra director. Soloist: Swedish violinist Malin Broman, prize winner of the Carl Nielsen Competition among others, will perform the Bartók concerto with her internationally recognized musical credentials.
