Discover the deep cultural significance of Ukrainian embroidery through a hands-on workshop. For centuries, embroidery has been far more than decoration — it was a visual language encoding symbolism, protection and life celebrations into everyday life, passed down through generations among craftswomen.
The workshop explores the connection between this textile heritage and Ukrainian naïve art. Self-taught artists adapted embroidery's familiar logic to canvas in the 20th century. Inspired by authentic patterns from a Ukrainian naïve art exhibition, participants work with a traditional composition featuring a horse and a female figure. Learn characteristic techniques while recreating the rhythmic line work, classic red-and-blue palette and symbolic shapes.
