Learn dogmestrik, a technique where you work directly with raw, unprocessed wool without carding or spinning. It is a sustainable and simple process that quickly takes you from raw material to finished knitted items.
The workshop uses wool from West Jutland spælsau sheep, whose long-fibred hair makes it possible to knit without preprocessing. You will learn the dogmestrik technique as well as fundamental knowledge about wool qualities, plant dyeing, and wet felting.
The price includes raw wool to knit a pair of hand warmers using a simple pattern. Alternatively, you can make a West Jutlandic shepherd's vest (wrap-around vest with hood) by purchasing additional wool for 195 kr.
Prerequisites: You should be able to knit knit stitch, purl stitch, and cast on stitches. Prior knowledge of dogmestrik is not necessary.
Hedestrik focuses on Nordic wool as a byproduct from sheep farmers and discusses wool choices from a climate perspective, as well as championing dogme and free knitting as an alternative to commercial yarn markets. Bring knitting needles in size 3-6.
