American jazz trumpeter Eddie Henderson presents a tribute program dedicated to his great musical inspiration, Miles Davis. Henderson, who has had Miles Davis as a mentor since childhood and later performed with musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Art Blakey, and McCoy Tyner, explores a curated collection of Davis' most important works.
Henderson's career has followed Miles Davis' stylistic evolution — from 1950s bebop and 1960s post-bop through to 1970s funk and fusion-influenced sounds. He was a central figure in Herbie Hancock's Mwandishi band and has over the years established himself among jazz's most authoritative voices. JazzTimes describes him as a "captivating clear and profound" trumpeter, and AllAboutJazz calls him "one of the few living instrumentalists who with elegant sophistication can evoke Miles' spirit."
Beyond his impressive musical career with releases on prestigious labels such as Smoke Sessions Records, Henderson has trained as a practicing physician and psychiatrist.
