A theatrical work exploring a human's quest for truth and the moral questions that define our existence. The piece examines how shame, envy, and selfishness affect our ability to love and connect with others.
The performance follows the ridiculous man—a figure who has surrendered to life's indifference. In a dream, he shoots himself in the heart, which opens a door to the realm of the dead and leads him to paradise. There he experiences the truth about human nature and his own place in the world. The work conveys Dostoevsky's central message: that we all bear responsibility for the world's evil and have a duty to work toward forgiveness and dignity.
Performers: Adam Ørvad (accordion) and others. Direction: Slava Kokorin. Dramaturgical assistants: Sasha Lystrup Andersen and Keld Thaarup. Costumes: Caspar Andreas Jørgensen.
