Oktoberkoret celebrates its 50th anniversary with a festive concert filled with classics, peace songs, and musical surprises. The choir presents works by Hans Eisler and music by Håkan Carlsson with texts by Otto Gelsted, as well as revue songs both old and new. Throughout the concert, the thread of peace as a unifying force runs through – a theme that has been central to the choir since its beginning.
Conductor Jan Overgaard Petersen leads the choir and contributes himself at the piano. He is a pianist, composer, and known for his focused musical approach to song interpretation. Guests Røde Horn will present works from their own repertoire, and there will be video greetings from partner choirs and orchestras in Sweden and Germany – colleagues with whom the choir has worked closely for over 20 years.
Oktoberkoret's commitment to peace and international solidarity is documented through their long-term collaboration with a Palestinian organization in Nablus, which they visited in 2019, among other things. The concert is also an opportunity to hear songs sung together and be reminded of song's role as a unifying force on both personal and global levels.
