Nubiyan Twist UK

Experience irresistible grooves and explosive live energy from the nine-piece afrojazz ensemble Nubiyan Twist. The band delivers an energized fusion of jazz, funk and soul that few can stand still for.

Nubiyan Twist was formed in 2011 at Leeds College of Music and is known as one of the strongest live bands on the British scene. Their music draws from hip-hop, afrobeat, dancehall, soul, reggae and electronic music. With nine musicians – from saxophone and trumpet to vocals and percussion – they create warm, captivating grooves and life-affirming songs.

The band has garnered enthusiasm from both audiences and critics. NPR calls their sound "Joyous, beautiful and rich", and they have collaborated with artists such as Nile Rodgers, Tony Allen, Seun Kuti and Fatoumata Diawara. Following a sold-out concert at ALICE last year, they return with a new line-up, new live show and their current album "Chasing Shadows" (2026).
