PRiMi presents exciting concerts every Tuesday. This evening features two musical projects with international artists and innovative sonic expressions.
BEAM SPLITTER + Phil Minton
Vocalist and composer Audrey Chen (USA), trombonist and electronics musician Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø (Norway) and British-American singer Phil Minton meet in this trio of extreme vocal and instrumental expeditions. The duos BEAM SPLITTER (Chen and Nørstebø since 2015) and the long-standing collaboration between Minton and Chen since 2005 intersect in hyperextended mouthfuls, breath-driven improvisations and electronics combined with monotron, feedback and sound files. The trio has toured in the UK, US, Portugal, Ukraine, Germany, Argentina and Brazil. Their debut album "wrists out" from 2024 is an unedited concert recording from Portugal.
Mattias Risberg Mining
Bandleader and keyboardist Mattias Risberg (Sweden) continues his expansive Mining project with a new Nordic all-star constellation: Thea Grant (vocals, Norway), David Stackenäs (guitar, Sweden), Antti Lötjönen (bass, Finland), Fredrik Ljungkvist (reeds, Sweden) and Peter Bruun (drums, Denmark). The project, which started in 2018 in the Bergslagen mining area in central Sweden, blends influences from Mingus, Zappa, Stravinsky, Genesis, Kate Bush, King Crimson and Miles Davis. The ensemble is known for intricate compositions, wild improvisations and spontaneous musical ingenuity. Their latest album "Mining at Fasching…and elsewhere" won the Swedish Manifest Prize for best Swedish jazz album in 2025.
