Experience three sisters' breathtaking vocal harmonies blended with traditional instruments from the Caucasus, Anatolia, and the Balkans. Samida – meaning "three sisters" in Georgian – was formed in 2016 by sisters Yudum, Damla, and Tamara Sahin. Their music is rooted in the rich Georgian polyphonic singing tradition, which they explore through original compositions and new interpretations of classical melodies.
The instrumentation and expression are meticulously composed: Yudum plays panduri (a lute-like string instrument), cello, and vocals; Damla brings traditional Georgian wind instruments salamuri and balaban along with flute and vocals; Tamara contributes violin and voice. Together they create a lively, present experience where ancient singing traditions come alive through three powerful musical voices that freely move across cultural boundaries.
