Europe stands at a critical crossroads. The war in Ukraine, rising geopolitical tensions, and growing competitive challenges are forcing the EU to make strategic choices.
At stake are fundamental questions: Should the EU increase investments in defense, security, innovation, and economic growth? If so, which areas should be prioritized? Should traditional budget items such as agricultural subsidies be cut, or must the EU seek new sources of financing through taxes and levies? Can reforms, reduced bureaucracy, and stronger economic growth provide the answer?
The debate focuses on the political priorities that will shape negotiations on the EU's next budget for 2028-2035. The moderator is Jens-Kristian Lütken, chairman of the European Movement.
