Experience an evening where live music, storytelling and cultural history come together as Albert Tsukrenko visits Ukraine House in Denmark for the first time. With his new project ALBERTZ UKRENKO, he explores Ukrainian popular music and the society that shaped it.
At the heart of the evening is the lecture “65 Years in an Hour: A History of Mistakes in Ukrainian Popular Music.” Albert traces the development from the Ukrainian SSR to independent Ukraine and examines what popular music can reveal about society, culture and identity. As a musician, a member of Khamerman Znyshchuye Virusy (Hammerman Destroys Viruses), and a long-time researcher of Ukrainian popular culture, he brings both scholarly insight and personal experience. His previous work includes the award-winning projects UnZip and Russification in Pop Style, as well as Old School Ukrainian Funk created together with MOVA.
