A rare musical experience featuring the innovative Copenhagen-based trio TING TING, who compose and perform with sounds created from objects. For KU.BE, the group develops a site-specific composition that engages not only physical objects but the building itself. The three musicians – Michaela Turcerova, Sarah Buchner and Qarin Wikström – together with sound technician Simon Mariegaard explore the boundaries between installation, performance, sound, light and movement.
Release Concert: Calum Builder – Although Changed, I Arise the Same
Artist Calum Builder presents his self-built (Re)Constructed Pipe Organ, assembled from salvaged church pipes throughout Denmark. The instrument's mechanics are fully exposed: motor, bellow, windchest and tubing. The result behaves less like a traditional organ and more like a proto-synthesiser with rhythmic beatings, harsh tones and sub-bass oscillations, constantly balancing on the edge of stability. Builder combines the instrument with vocalists Johanna Sulkunen and Zola Mennenöh, whose voices move within and out of the organ's sound. Text fragments based on hymns explore the concept of omnipresence – broken apart and reassembled anew. A reconstructed organ performing a reconstructed hymn.Builder has performed throughout Europe, including at Marmorkirken Copenhagen, Ballhaus Ost Berlin, Grand Hospice Brussels, and numerous international festivals and concert halls.
