Rasmus Kjær Trio & OMRUM

Hobby Horse presents two jazz ensembles in one evening. Rasmus Kjær Trio features composer and pianist Rasmus Kjær, bassist Richard Andersson, and drummer Anders Vestergaard. The trio explores music created over the past decade and a half, including pieces from the debut album Broken Bow (2012) and the latest release Underlake (2025). The music is melodic, open, and inquisitive—it draws from the foundations of jazz and piano music while seeking new horizons. The compositions create a framework for living interplay, where written and improvised elements continuously influence one another.

Rasmus Kjær is a pianist, organist, composer, and improviser with an extensive catalogue. Richard Andersson is described as one of the most interesting figures on the Danish jazz scene and has collaborated widely, including with Jeff "Tain" Watts and Evan Parker. Anders Vestergaard brings international experience from touring around the world.

OMRUM is a collective project—an open musical space for four voices with no hierarchy. The quartet consists of trumpeter Erik Kimestad (Norway), trombonist Mads Hyhne, bassist Richard Andersson, and drummer Jakob Høyer. Their music navigates between composition and free improvisation with open, ethereal moods disrupted by explosive bursts. Their debut album Bringer of Light was nominated for the German Jazz Prize, and at the concert they present material from both this album and new recordings from summer 2026.
