Bent Melchior Prize 2026

A significant civic event exploring how we view the world and its impact on our understanding of humanity. This year's event addresses the intersection of faith and science, while extending the discussion to the worldviews that shape our perspectives and values. When different ideologies meet, dialogue and mutual understanding emerge alongside disagreement.

The program features musical performances by the Danish Junior Choir and Dorthe Gerlach, plus welcome remarks by Özlem Cekic. Speeches include Adam Melchior (great-grandson of Bent Melchior) and conversations with prominent thinkers such as Uffe Elbæk and Ida Auken. A special "battle" between science and faith is followed by a panel discussion with scholars and intellectuals including Peter Qvortrup Geisling, Bente Klarlund, and Imran Rashid. After the award presentation, Jakob Skovgaard-Petersen delivers the prize motivation.

The Bent Melchior Prize honours individuals dedicated to building bridges between people. The recipient receives an artist-crafted sculpture by Jens Galschiøt as a traveling trophy for the next recipient, plus 10,000 DKK in cash.
