Two Uruguayan musicians, Liber Galloso and Paolo Latrónica, introduce you to candombe – the Afro-Uruguayan rhythmic tradition from Río de la Plata. Over two hours, you will explore how candombe's distinctive rhythmic and melodic patterns can be integrated into improvisation, jazz, world music, or your own musical style.
Programme
- Introduction and historical-cultural background
- Rhythm exercises and collective rhythm games
- Melodic patterns and their relationship to the drums
- Collective ensemble with percussion and melodic and harmonic instruments
Liber Galloso (saxophone, percussion, composer) has over 20 years of teaching experience, and Paolo Latrónica is a guitarist, composer and producer. The workshop is aimed at intermediate to advanced instrumentalists, students and professionals.
The same evening at 7 pm, a concert with Liber and Paolo takes place at the same venue – concert tickets are sold separately.
